Well, this can be a long or short story. So for the sake of all of you who actually clicked the link to this page, here' s the short version...
During a trip to the Southwest in 1991, Jim, his wife Heidi and their 1 year old son James took a shortcut through the Sonora Pass in California hoping it would be a quicker route back to their hotel. In 1993 Jim left his job with a high-tech fiber optics firm to start Sonora Marketing & Graphics with his wife Heidi and a couple friends. They had also just had their daughter Elizabeth. Slowly but surely, their client base starting growing, mainly with projects in publishing and graphic design.
Then when the internet became mainstream, the focus of their business shifted to accommodate the increasing demand for website design & development. At that time, Jim was handling the business mostly by himself in a small office in downtown Amesbury. As business increased, he brought on the help of 2 business professionals to assist with sales and marketing, handling the design and development himself. At that point the company name was changed to Sonora DesignWorks.
After a few years, the company moved to a larger office and took on a designer/programmer. The business grew as did their technical capabilities and portfolio.
In the past few years Sonora has grown to a staff of 6 and is now located in its permanent (hopefully) location in the historic Upper Millyard in downtown Amesbury.
